2009 - Detroit, MI

The 5th Annual JemCon brought Magic to Motown on September 26 & 27, 2009 at the Detroit Metropolitan Hotel in Detroit, MI!

JemCon 2009: Magic in Motown, was attended by around 65 Jemâ„¢ fans from all over the world, including attendees from England, Holland and Scotland! The year's poor economy may have affected our numbers but it certainly didn't put a dampener on our spirits! The convention featured special guests Patricia Alice Albrecht, Ellen Bernfeld and Anne Bryant. In addition there were fan panels, workshops, dealers, and displays which included rare prototypes and custom dolls.

On Friday there was a catered Meet 'N Greet buffet dinner with an outrageous Jem™ trivia contest and all new Jem song Pictionary "sketch-off"!

On Saturday there was our first music themed guest panel with Anne Bryant, who wrote the Jem songs, and Ellen Bernfeld, the singing voice of Pizzazz, leading the show. For The second guest panel on Sunday we were also joined by the owner of Pizzazz's speaking voice, Patricia Alice Albrecht.

The convention continued throughout the evening with Jem™ Karaoke (lead by several wonderfully enthusiastic performances by Ellen Bernfeld), a fantastic Battle of the Bands Masquerade and disco!

The JemCon 2009 Charity Auction raised $950.00 for The ART of Leadership Foundation, who's mission it is to inspire vision and leadership in young people, giving them the skills to succeed in their lives and to be leaders in their communities.
